Cape Wine Route - 3 Day Cycling Tour
Schedule
Day 1
After breakfast, we depart Cape Town for the beautiful wine region of Stellenbosch. Marvel at the stunning vistas of Devon Valley on an exhilarating cycle. We visit one of the most breathtaking wine estates in Stellenbosch and indulge in culinary offerings at the local restaurant. After lunch, we are given a lesson in making a local "champagne", known as Method Cap de Classique. We enjoy a walking tour of Stellenbosch, South Africa’s second oldest town. At the end of the day you can enjoy a massage before a fabulous dinner, and more fabulous wine of course, before heading for bed. Bed of course, is the luxury Grande Roche!
Day 2
We ride through lush vineyards along the gentle slopes of Simonsberg mountain. We sample awardwinning wines and are treated to a delicious lunch. We cycle further through the wine estates and after a short transfer, we arrive in Franschhoek, culinary capital of South Africa. After lunch we are treated to a historic walk tour of Franschoek before returning to relax at the exceptional five star Grande Roche Hotel in the Paarl Valley. Indulge with a fabulous dinner served in the world famous Bosman's Restaurant!
Day 3
We ride down the Franschhoek Pass with sweeping views of the entire valley before sampling more world-renowed wines. We are rewarded with a sumptuous picnic lunch at Solms Delta, a working farm with a superb museum steeped in local history. We start our journey back to Cape Town, with a final wine pairing experience along the way and we visit an acclaimed brandy cellar and learn about the process of producing this fine spirit.
Accommodation
We offer two accommodation options but with exactly the same activities.
Option 1 is designed to provide luxury accommodation with private families in and around Stellenbosch. Each family is carefully vetted and long time friends of Bike and Saddle so you will receive the best hospitality in the region.
Option 2 offers you the opportunity to stay in the area's most sought after properties, some of the very best accommodation in Africa.
