Kloofing, otherwise known as canyoning, is a uniquely Western Cape experience. It involves getting yourself down a river gorge; one that is fast-flowing, but with too little water for kayaking. Boulder hopping, wading, swimming, climbing, sliding down natural slides and jumping off cliffs from 3-21 metres high is what you will be doing. This is a full day of great fun and extreme adventure over a 17 km course which takes place at Suicide Gorge in the Hottentots Mountains just outside of Cape Town.

Itinerary
You will be picked up by a Revel Adventures Guide in City Bowl Areas at around 06:00 and taken along the N2 past Grabouw and Elgin to The Hottentots’ Holland Nature Reserve. We start off with a 2.5 hours hike into the wilderness before donning your wetsuits (which protect you from the cold water as well as scrapes and bumps)...and then the fun begins.
8 jumps and slides from 3 to 21 meters high down the gorge through spectacular scenery. We then stop for lunch before starting the 2 hour hike back to our start point.

CAUTION!
Kloofing at Suicide Gorge is definitely our most Extreme activity! It is a long day from getting picked up in Cape Town at approx 06:00 to sometimes getting dropped off as late as 18:00. You must be fit, as it involves hours of hiking and swimming! The jumps are no small task ranging from 3-21m, 7m being the highest that you HAVE TO jump as it is more dangerous to climb down that section of terrain. Absolutely everything gets wet, so you will have to wear comfortable shorts and shoes that you don't mind getting a bit mucky!

So if you're fit, not afraid of jumping from 7 meters into a rock pool and ready for the challenge, then you're in for a beautiful day of adventure. Bring along a water proof disposable camera, you'll want to cherish these memories!
