Parapax is South Africa’s oldest established Tandem Paragliding company. Formed in 2001 as a registered adventure company and with 14 years full-time experience, we have over 12 000 accident-free flights.
As Cape Town’s most reputable company, we arrive on time to meet you, provide all that’s needed for an excellent flying experience and only fly when it’s safe to. Safety is our number 1 priority and we take no chances with anybody’s wellbeing.
All Parapax pilots hold officially (SAHPA) recognized licences. Our pilots are all internationally qualified and have vast experience. Some of our pilots even hold world records in paragliding, like Tom Erzen from Slovenia who flew for 8hrs25mins doing the world’s furthest out-and-return TANDEM flight - 158km! Extreme adventure, but worth it!
With Tandem Paragliding, as a passenger you require no previous knowledge of the sport at all. The pilot will give you instructions shortly before the flight.
With a few steps forward, take-offs are effortless and landings are soft. We mostly land on large fields or beaches (like Camps Bay) with no obstacles or dangers. We are even disabled friendly, having taken wheelchair-bound paraplegics, blind and deaf folks, children from as young as 6 to as old as 90 and passengers up to 135kg in weight, so literally, almost anybody can fly with us!
For your memories
Parapax offers "In-flight photography and videography". Our pilots fly with a specially made wide-angled digital camera mounted on a retractable telescoping pole. Before takeoff, in flight and on landing, our pilots take photos and video of the passenger and the scenery. This captures the most amazing images and movies of the passengers in the paragliding harness and the landscapes below and around us. See below!
We then burn these onto a CD the moment we land. Cost is a nominal R200 as we want all our passengers to have a great memory of the flight!
Prices
Standard flight in Cape Town - from Lions Head and Signal Hill, Cape Town (10 – 40 mins in the air) - R1000.
We generally meet at the Lions Head parking lot, 300m up Signal Hill road, opposite Tafelberg road and near Table Mountain road.
We also offer a convenient Shuttle service, picking you up anywhere in the center of Capetown / Atlantic seaboard (your hotel / waterfront / Table Mountain’s lower cableway station / Camp’s bay) and returning you (even to a different spot) for a single R100pp for local sites and R150pp for out-of-town sites. Generally done in our Classy silver Mercedes Vito bus but also in one of our zooty oldtimers (’64 Triumph Convertible or ’57 Austin A55 Pickup).
Standard flight from any out-of-town flying sites – Hermanus, Sir Lowries pass (Stellenbosch / Somerset West), Franschhoek, Koringberg, Porterville, Macassar beach, Picketberg add R100pp transport fee if driving there independently.
Cross Country Flights – This is the stuff legends are made of! For a longer flight, join us for a half-day inland (between 30mins and 1hr15min drive from CT) and fly between 45mins and 4hours (average 1 to 2 hours airtime), covering distance in an incredible, unforgettable experience! Cost is R1500 for the flight.
We include everything that’s needed for the flight as well as water, suntan lotion, snacks and refreshments.
After meeting you, note that there is a 15 – 20min walk required when flying Lions Head (not to the very top). Booking is easy!
Contact Absolute Adventures so we can arrange an appropriate time to fly. Calling on the morning of flight is fine, but upfront booking is better. Remember, try and fly early in your time in Cape Town as our sport is weather dependant! We will simply need a cell phone number and how many of you want to fly.
We fly 365 days a year, from sunrise to sunset (weather dependant). We will arrange a convenient and safe time to fly with you. Sunset tandem flights are a speciality of our company, but optimal flying is generally 9am to 2pm.
